Q. My dad doesn't like me to go to church any more because he says it's a waste of my time. I think it's because
he doesn't like getting up early on Sundays to drive me. The pastor said I should try to obey my parents more, but if I do, I'd never come to church any more.
A. Of course you should obey your parents and be a good example at home. But there are times we have to obey God above everyone else. Make sure you really are a good example at home so your dad can see that God is really changing you and that you are learning things that can bless your whole family. Pray for God to touch your dad's heart to make him see how important this is to you and ask him if there is a way that you could get him to bring you if you helped out more around the house, washed the car, took better care of the pets, mowed the lawn, etc. See what you can do to show your dad that you are serious about God and church, and pray that this will be a chance for you to show God to him through your actions and encourage him to want to bring you regularly. Talk about this more to your youth pastor as he will have good ideas to help you out.
